Last week, C3 President Doug Newcomb was invited to moderate a panel discussion in San Francisco, following Ford CEO Mark Fields’ announcement of the acquisition of the app-activated van-pool service Chariot and Ford’s investment in expanding Motivate’s bike-sharing service in the Bay Area. The panel featured:
- Jim Hackett, Chairman of Ford Smart Mobility
- Ali Vahabzadeh, CEO of Chariot
- Jay Walder, President and CEO of Motivate
You can watch the panel in its entirety in the video above. The takeaway is that various forms of transportation are coming together (car-sharing and ride-sharing, public transit, bike-sharing, van-pooling and more), enabled by technology, to make getting around cities like San Francisco easier, safer and more economically and environmentally friendly.
